[Hi, I'm Lizzie Killian, founder at FIFTYcc. You're reading VGPR, a newsletter featuring interesting developments and topics impacting public relations in the video games industry.

I’ve been thinking about VGPR a lot lately. Every now and then I still get asked about this newsletter, which is very flattering!
I stopped because it started to feel like additional work. I would spend my weekends after a long work week putting an issue together. In fact, I’m writing this on my first day of a long-awaited sabbatical (and I promise I will actually touch grass after today…)!
So why write now? The media landscape continues to change constantly, and unfortunately that has come with some bad news in the last month alone. Entire publications are being shut down leaving hundreds of people out of work and seeking new employment. There’s a lot to dig into here, including how these changes affect PR. But at the very least, I hope those considering a career in PR may find some of the job postings below—as well as some of the back issues of VGPR—helpful.
Also since the last issue, I have expanded my team from myself to two people, and then two became three. I’ve learned a lot in that process, and am reminded of how good communication starts from the inside out. I’ve had to document our processes and how we do things to maintain consistency in training. I now have an internal wiki two years in the making and it continues to evolve. I’ve had to outline what my company values and expectations are. Basically, I’ve had to take everything from inside my head for the last six years since starting my company and try to put it on paper, all while making it easy to understand, fair, and at least a little inspirational 🤔 In defining these values, expectations, and processes, my team can develop an understanding of what we do and why we do it, and we have a standard of quality that we can apply to all our work.
I’ll at least share one of our company values (and hence my sabbatical!):
But all that for a future issue… here are some of the things happening in our wacky world of public relations.
